Buckmister Fuller once wrote,"Whatever humans have learned had to be learned as a consequence only of trail and error experience.Humans have learned only trhough their mistakes."
In the golf swing what is meant by confidence and how does one develop confidence? That is a question that's very difficult to answer.Confidence is a must to succeed in reaching your golfing goals.
Confidence is trusting your swing that you have been practicing on the driving range or at home in your backyard.Confidence breeds rhythm and tempo which is a smooth motion from start to finish. With confidence a player will give himself time to complete each motion. But, with the loss of confidence even fine players lose their rhythm and tempo.
In hurrying the swing the player does not have time to complete one move before starting the next.To gain confidence learn the correct body motions and practice them until they become a smooth flowing motion-one motion waiting until the preceeding motion is completed.
To help develop the feel for this motion, practice hitting golf balls swinging what feels like 50 precent of the speed you normally use. When you start noticing the distance is almost equivalant to your normal full speed it might enlighten you to allow the law of physics to do its job.Centrifugal force not brute strength is what gives the clubhead the speed and accuracy.I have worked with world class athletes over the years from numerous professional sports and they all initially wanted to try to overpower the ball with poor results.Once I taught them the proper motion combined with their strength and agility they were reaping the results they desired.
Success breeds confidence.Swing within yourself. The more you hurry up the less confidence you will have because your going to be out of control.Power out of control is useless.Like the old saying goes"Speed of a runaway horse counts for nothing." To regain confidence I recommend you visit a qualified well versed instructor to instill proper swing mechanics that will re-inforce your game. This will help you gain knowledge of what your doing in your swing and that in turn will give you more confidence to play well.
Golf joke:Bob,a duffer was talked into playing a round of golf by his neighbor Mike.On the first hole,Bob teed off and took a mighty swing, and whiffed. He swung again with the same results.A third and fourth swing were no better. He flung his club down and stomped off to the clubhouse."You can't quit now,"yelled Mike."You've got a no-hitter going."
