In 2005 we resolve:
To play for the pure enjoyment and not take the game so seriously that it inhibits you from having fun.
To learn how to do it properly.
To hit the ball where you are aiming with some degree of control.
To use the longer club, and not be short on your shots.
To choose the easy route, and play away from trouble.
To not offer advice to anyone unless they ask.
To have a firm, but not tight grip.
To relax and not tighten up.
To stop overswinging.
To not blame others for your bad shots.
To replace divots, and repair ball marks on the greens.
To play the course, and not your opponent.
To play within yourself at all times.
To stick to solid fundamentals, and stop tinkering so much.
To consult a good pro to help you with any of your problems.
To let the clubhead do the work.
To learn the rules & etiquette
To allow faster players to play through.
To keep the carts on the cartpaths after heavy rains.
To wear proper attire on the course.
To cut down on your swearing and club throwing.
To rake the bunkers after you hit your shot.
To be ready to play when it's your turn.
To bring plenty of golf balls with you to the course.
To spend quality time practicing, not just banging balls endlessly.
To get in good shape so you can hit the ball farther.
To cut down on three putts.
To break 100,90,80 or even shoot par or better.
To play golf with your family.
To finally realize how lucky you are to play such a wonderful game!
Final thoughts for 2004:I would always rather play with a golfer with only one arm with a great attitude over a player with two arms and a bad attitude.
"What I'd like to have for today I can tell you in a minute. My friends all around me and the home with laughter in it!"
My best wishes to you in 2005!
