You might have heard the expression"Putting is all in your head."This all depends
upon whose head they are talking about--the player's head or the head of the golf club.
There are many theories on how to make this stroke which accounts for almost half of all
your shots. Many are without any reson. The important key to successful putting is feel--
feeling the tempo and clubface position.Don't allow the old" Paralysis through Analysis"
syndrome to take hold of your game by overcomplicating matters.
The ball bounces off the putter face at impact and is only going to react to how the clubfaces
position was at that moment of truth. The ball is going to travel in the direction the clubface is
pointing, not the direction the clubface is traveling.
So choose a putterhead that has feel for balance and control. The lie angle can influence your feel
as well as control. When the lie angle is too flat, the heel will be off the ground and this might cause
a tendency to push your putts. When the lie angle is too upright, the toe will be off the ground and
the tendency will be to pull your putts. With the correct lie,the ball can be hit in the center of the clubface
on a consistent level and give you that great sweet feel.
Here's another golf joke:What's the deifinition of a "Gimme"putt? It's a agreement between two losers
who can't putt.
Note: I will be staging a Free golf demonstration & lessons open to the public July 24th at Bob Moore's
