Don't start something you can't finish. That's the way I feel about the follow-through of your golf swing. You must hit THROUGH the ball, not TO the ball!
Too few golfers pay attention to how they finish their respective swings. This is where using video can really help in the progress of analyzing your faults. If you have an opportunity to film your swing, don't miss it even if you don't like what you see. Most golfers cringe when viewing their swings.
The clubhead must be picking up speed at impact; and your feeling is that you don't reach maximum speed until shortly after impact. In order to do this you must hit(swing) to your finish; which means go ahead an continue to follow-through.I can't repeat this too often.
Here are a few tips to improve that follow-through:1.)Make sure you finish your backswing before you start you downswing.2.)Then start your downswing with your left side(lower body leading).3.)Move your left side to and through the ball.4.)Don't stop the left side at the ball.5.)The left side must lead so that the wrists will be able to unhinge naturally at impact.6.)This late release of the wrists produced by the left side pulling will automatically produce a good follow-through without you trying to force or manipulate your swing.
A good follow-through indicates that the swing was good all the way. So work on these little points and remember to do this properly" Maintain your position, and you'll complete your mission." Also, I have a golf demonstration coming up in July to showcase my new training device. I would like many of you to attend to see this wonderful new device I designed to help people understand and make quick corrections on their own when your game gets off track. For more information go to my website.
Special note: As a golf professional I have people telling me jokes surrounding the game so I thought I might include one periodically."Say, Keith did you hear about Fred trying to drown himself in the lake on the tenth hole?" That's terrible,What happened?" "Nothing,He couldn't keep his head down there either."
